A plumbing emergency is a leak or backup that is causing damage or creating a safety risk right now. Those problems do not wait for business hours. In the Phoenix area they tend to come in two waves: summer heat, which stresses outdoor and attic piping, and monsoon rain, which overwhelms older drains.

What Counts as an Emergency

Call right away, day or night, for any of these:

• A burst pipe with water flowing into the home
• Sewage backing up into a sink, tub, shower, or floor drain
• A complete loss of water throughout the house

• Flooding from a failed water heater, supply line, or fixture connection

A slow drain, a running toilet, or a minor drip can wait for a scheduled visit. Drain cleaning and toilet repair are the usual next steps for those.

Steps to Take Before We Arrive

Start with the main water shutoff. Find the valve where the water line enters the home and turn it off. That one step limits water damage more than anything else you can do. If water is standing near outlets or fixtures and it is safe to do so, switch off power to those circuits at the breaker.

Keep people and pets away from backed-up water. For a gas odor, skip the water steps entirely and get out of the building.

What Happens When We Arrive

We walk you through the shutoff steps by phone while a technician is on the way. On arrival, the first job is stopping the damage: shutting off the source of a leak, containing a backup, or stabilizing the situation. Only after that do we find the cause and the repair it needs. We explain what we see as we go.

Once the emergency is under control, you receive a written estimate for any work beyond the immediate fix before we start it. The response is faster in an emergency, but the estimate process stays the same.

Seasonal Emergencies in Phoenix

Summer heat stresses hose bibs, irrigation lines, and pipes in uninsulated attics and garages. Fittings can fail, and weak pipe can give out after months of triple-digit heat, often with little warning.

Monsoon storms bring the other pattern. One intense storm can drop more rain in an hour than an older sewer or storm drain in an established neighborhood was built to carry, and backups appear suddenly. Homes in low spots on a street are the most exposed. A sewer line repair inspection before the season shows whether an older line can handle a heavy storm.

A borderline problem costs less to fix before peak season. A water heater making new noises, a hose bib that has started to drip, or a drain that empties more slowly than it used to are all worth a call now. A failing water heater is most likely to leave you without hot water when the whole Valley is calling too.
