Gas line work leaves less room for error than most plumbing jobs. A small mistake on a water line causes a leak. A small mistake on a gas line can cause a fire or a dangerous buildup inside the home. We size, install, and test every gas line to current code, whether the job is a leak, a new appliance connection, or a line upgrade for a tankless water heater.

Signs You Need Gas Line Service

These are the signs that call for a gas line visit. If you smell gas, follow the steps in the next section first.

• A rotten-egg smell near an appliance, the gas meter, or anywhere inside the home. Utilities add that odor on purpose so leaks are easy to notice.
• A hissing sound near a gas line, meter, or appliance connection.
• Dead or unusually green grass in one patch of yard, which can mean a buried line is leaking.
• A pilot light that won’t stay lit, or a gas appliance with a weak or uneven flame.
• A planned appliance, such as a range, dryer, water heater, or outdoor fire feature, that needs a new or larger line.

If You Smell Gas

Leave the building, avoid switches, phones, and open flames, and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Call us once the area is safe. How We Work on a Gas Line

For a suspected leak that is not an active emergency, we check connections, fittings, and line runs with gas leak detection equipment. Small leaks are often invisible and can sit along a buried outdoor line. Once we find the failed fitting or section, we repair it and pressure test the line before the job is done.

New lines start with sizing. We calculate the BTU demand of each appliance and size the line to match, because an undersized line starves an appliance of fuel. Tankless conversions are the most common case. A tankless unit needs far more gas flow than the line feeding an old tank heater was built to deliver. Every line we install or repair follows current code for sizing, fittings, and shutoff valve placement. We pressure test each new or repaired line before we connect an appliance to it.

A gas water heater, or a range that needs new plumbing, usually involves both trades. We handle the gas and plumbing work together, so one team is responsible for the whole installation. Heaters that already have a fault go through water heater repair.

What to Expect at the Visit

For a leak, we check the full line and its connections, not only the spot where you noticed the smell. Gas can travel along a line and collect in unexpected places, so a full check gives a more reliable answer.

For a new line, we explain the BTU calculation and the capacity of your existing supply in plain terms before we quote. That matters most for larger additions such as an outdoor kitchen. Every job ends with a pressure test, and we confirm there is no leak at any joint before an appliance is reconnected.

Outdoor Gas Lines in the Valley

Outdoor living drives much of the gas work here. Fire pits, outdoor kitchens, patio heaters for cool winter evenings, and pool heaters are all common. Outdoor lines are exposed to soil movement and to landscaping changes over the years. If you plan a yard renovation near an existing line, tell us before the work starts.

Most of our outdoor gas work comes from Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, where properties often have several gas appliances. Older Phoenix homes also need a line inspection before a new appliance is added.

Pricing and Approval

Gas line pricing depends on the scope. A leak repair on one fitting is a different job from a new run to a fire feature across the yard. You receive a written estimate for the specific work. Leak detection and pressure testing are included in every gas quote, not sold as extras.

If the work turns up a problem outside the original scope, such as an older line that needs replacing, we stop, explain what we found, and wait for your approval before continuing.
